IBM Thinkpad t40 sound not workinng on OpenSuse10

I am running Open suse 10 on a virtual pc using microsoft virtual PC. Everything else is working except for the sound. I am trying to install the Intel 82801DB-ICH4 which uses the snd-intel8x0 sound driver. The install keeps failing stating that their may be either an IO error or IRQ error. Does anyone have any idea on how I could change the IRQ and the IO (change the IO to what???) when running this on Microsoft Virtual PC? Any help appreciated. Thanks
