I installed SuSE 8.0 on my IBM ThinkPad 600E yesterday. The audio doesn't seem to be working...

On boot, in the xconsole window, I get:

"Nov 26 14:08:47 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-slot-1

In the YaST2 module for sound, it shows:
Number: [0]
Card Model: CS461 SoundFusion Audio Accelerator
State: Not running

When I try to play something in FreeAmp, I get "Cannot open audio device. Please make sure that the audio device is properly configured."


Any help would be appreciated.

Thats usually a sign that the wrong module is loaded, I personally use ALSA for my thinkpad 600e, but the OSS modules work perfectly. Go into your bios and make sure quick boot is off, and boot into linux, load the cs4232 modules with whatever parameters are specified in windows PS2.EXE, from there you should have sound.. good luck
