Hello,

I've been running RedHat EL4.0 on an IBM T40 without any problems for several months, but all of the sudden it's begun exhibiting a strange behavior. If there is no input for 25 seconds (exactly, it seems) the screen goes black. It comes right back as soon as I touch any key but still the problem is annoying to say the least. It almost seems like it's in some sort of power saving mode or something though I can't imagine what I could have done to have caused this. I poked around in /var/log/messages but didn't see anything suspicious. Can anyone guess what might be wrong or have any advice; this is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance for any replies!

You don't specify which Window Manager you are using, but it seems like your
screensaver settings have been changed.
For KDE right-click on the desktop, select Configure Dessktop Then Screensaver settings
