I will turn off some of the start up programs I think are suspect (compiz, desktop drapes)
I will try the 9.10 migration again on said cloned disk
Ok so I am attempting the clone now and this is is what I got

So the question comes in do I remove these packages before upgrading the OS.
To Erictra... ya I a bit stubborn and pig headed and Ill work a problem till i fix it. I always have a hammer if needed. LOL
I enabled the resources and trying the update now.. Wish me luck. If not back to restore point and remove all those packages and try again.
It wants to remove 30 packages.
Did you do apt-get update after you enabled the resources?
On Debian based distros like Ubuntu, before doing apt-get upgrade you ALWAYS have to do apt-get update first. That command namely synchronizes with the repositories.
ok make up your mind already.. First it tells me to enable the repos then it disables them
Third party sources disabled
Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or your package manager.
Well I did not do another update last night. Figured Id sleep on it.
The update never failed and for my secondary user ID id seems to work fine. So there must be something configured in the primary user I use xsession that is causing this.
At least I did not get any errors.
In th eend it said there were 79 files that were to be removed and I let it. Did nto seem to have any ill affects on the build.
May be next time Ill tell it to keep the files.?
But I still think its an xsession program.
May be I should remove that list of files I posted earlier before trying the update.
