Upgrade of Mandrake 8.2 to 9.1 Very Bad!

I opted to upgrade a working mandrake 8.2 to 9.1. Here is what resulted:

1. It took more than 3 hours to finish! To make a comparison I installed mdk 9.1 on another partition on the same pc-this took 1 hour and 5 minutes!

2. Sound was not working although a check on the hardware shows that the sound card is configured correctly. No such problem on the clean install.

3. The KDE menu was missing. No such problem with the clean install.

Other than these Mandrake 9.1 looks okay-so far anyway. My winmodem still works on it.
