Playing .asp links with Mplayer

Hi guys. Let's see if we figure this out.
I want to play the link of a Radio station that is located at the following stie

http://www.tomateros.com.mx/tomsenlinea.asp

If i'm in windows...the link goes directly to Windows Media player. If I try Realplayer it says that it doesn't recognize the format.
So, I tried it in Mplayer in Linux, and after I enter the command

mplayer http://www.tomateros.com.mx/tomsenlinea.asp

The same error message as Realplayer is given. "...that format is not recognized/supported"

Any ideas as to how to play this in Linux?

Thanks,

Wink You won't be able to directly set an .asp file to play in mplayer.

You won't be able to directly set an .asp file to play in mplayer.

Mplayer will not know what to do with an .asp file type. However if you view the source of the page, the file you trying to play is:

Even if you added a MIME type to your list of helper applications in Mozilla, I am not for sure if the loading the page would automatically launch mplayer.

how did you find out about that link. I looked at the entire source page, but I couldn't find that links...nor can I even view the

/utilerias/

folder...

I tried playing it in RealPlayer, and it played the maxi.mp3 fine, but, it was just the file...it wasn't the feed of the Radio.

What kind of plugins do you have in your browser? Maybe there is an option to use the RealPlayer plugin with it...

Also (btw I'm on w2k at work, booo ) I just took a look at it, it looks to be playing from:
mms://207.248.13.228:1086 (what is mms?)

Or, what I'd do is email the webmaster and ask if you can stream it directly, if so, what is the URL. Or something along those lines. Let em know your situation, they might be cool with it.

Cool

mms = multimedia streaming server.

i hope you can understand why mplayer can't play the .asp file... afterall it is a webpage. you wouldn't expect it to play html files would you??

so like jtp51, just [play the mp3 file directly and you're sorted.

the mp3 file is just a recorded Voice that says Welcome to Maxi Radio. Then the thing stops and no more streaming audio comes in. That's the problem with playing that file.

Thanks for noting all of that Chad. I'm going to tell them that they need a RealPlayer links as well...just having that .asp link is a pain in the butt. They used to have also a RealPlayer link, dunno why they took it off.

Oh well, thanks everyone!,
