More hidden Gnome configurability

Posted 07-04-2010 at 09:36 AM by trevorparsons
Updated 07-04-2010 at 10:34 AM by trevorparsons (Minor edit for clarity)

Today a friend asked me how to change keyboard shortcuts in Nautilus, Gnome's file browser. He had looked at System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts and found no way to tweak them there.

I dug around and discovered that Nautilus's shortcut configuration is stored in the text file ~/.gnome2/accels/nautilus

A comment in the header of that file describes it as "an automated accelerator map dump". Does that mean I can edit it and have the changes stick?...

Still going...

Posted 07-04-2010 at 03:19 AM by Chargh

Although life has forced me to neglect some of my projects recently, I have been able to put some more work into them in the past few weeks. I am confident that I will have more things to show by the end of the summer.

My first bit of progress this year was an easy but necessary update to Alexei: Part IX, which brings it up to version 1.2.8. Nothing really new in the release, just some code clean-up and other cosmetic fixes. Hopefully I will have more to show for my work soon....

Greetings,

I'm not used to long speeches and long starts so I'll just hit it straight....

It's so nice that over the past few months (a year or two) the mindset/ideology of Linux users and the Linux community has undergone a drastic change and has taken a turn for the better. I remember when I was trying to decide whether or not not move from MS (Microsoft) Windows and which Linux distro to choose, this was few few months ago (I haven't really moved completely to Linux,

I have just created a shell script that automates the kernel download and build process for the person who runs it:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Emango...KernelSetup.sh

When you download it, just type (in a terminal):

Code:
$ chmod a+x KernelSetup.sh && ./KernelSetup.sh
The script (except for make xconfig, which it executes for you but expects...
