Squid is a Caching Proxy Server that reduces bandwidth, improves response times by caching and reusing frequently-requested web pages so you have a faster Web Experience. Normally, if you wish to do URL Filtering, in other words, blocking by Web Address, you should use SquidGuard or UfdbGuard or DansGuardian to do so since they are specifically made to do URL Filtering more efficiently than the native Squid ACL. However, for those who can't or won't use the other applications, Squid can be configured...

My wife is a gamer. Gamers are a bit...uhh, different from your typical "computer nerds". They're a bit mean, abrasive, and...well, ok, they're pretty much exactly like most computer nerds I know =)

Last night my wife decided to prank a twitch.tv live stream. It's common practice for "followers" to have hilarious names and laugh gloriously when a streamer reads their new follower names out loud to their thousands of viewers during a live broadcast. So there...

Dell UltraSharp UZ2315H Computer Monitor, 23-inch

My old monitor, a 2003 Dell 15-inch 4:3 flat-screen E151FPb, started having white-out failures, which were becoming more and more frequent, sometimes minutes apart. On first glance, lifting the 250 GB per month limit is a great idea. On the flipside, the way they are working around this is by raising the limit to 300 GB (gracias, amigos!...

NEWS 150211
A new and much better version of Exton|OS is ready. I have replaced kernel 3.16.0-21-exton with kernel 3.19.0-5-exton. (Kernel.org‘s stable kernel 3.19.0, released 150209). With kernel 3.19.0 there is no real need to use Nvidia proprietary graphic drivers since this kernel has better support for the open-source Nvidia driver Nouveau than any other older kernel.

Feature OVERVIEW for the Linux 3.19 kernel

Desktop Environment and programs
The Desktop...
