GNOME PPP Issues with 7.10

I have configured wvdial and installed GNOME PPP on Ubuntu 7.10. I am using a Compaq Presario 5000US with a PCTel modem w/ the correct drivers installed for the default kernel. While the modem dials out and does connect, GNOME PPP gets stuck on the Connecting screen and does not seem to resolve. I can, however, use the Internet. I was wondering if anyone using dial-up in 7.10 has experienced this problem and, if so, have found a resolution to this. Thanks for any suggestions.

This appears to be a bug in the 7.10 release:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...pp/+bug/121487

Hopefully, this will be resolved shortly.
