YAST Update

I'm running Suse 9.1. when I run YAST someitmes it sometimes installed (relatively) old versions of software. For instance I installed gaim 1.0, and after running yast it put back on gaim0.75. How i can make sure YAST always installs the most up to date software
P.S. (I'm a newbie)

I haven't figured that one out myself. YaST completely screwed up Opera for me by downloading an unstable BETA!!! Do these people not pay attention?

I would recomend using Packman rather than a Suse mirror.

Under installation sources put "packman.iu-bremen.de" and for directory put "suse/9.1" Also, make sure you are using HTTP protocol.

Packman has more up to date stuff. Plus, it has better versions of some things, such as video players. One thing everyone complains about with Suse 9.1 is the restrictions placed on the video players (no Divx or DVD's). The versions distributed by Packman have these capabilities.
