Yes you can mount an ISO (or any other kind) image to use the files, just use the mount command. Just add the "-o loop" option

mount /path/to/image.iso /path/to/mount/to -t iso9660 -o loop
if it's a DVD with you may have to use udf instead of iso9660
You must run that command as root, also this will mount it so only root can use it so you can add "uid=(username)"
No need for any 3rd party tools to do this, Linux has it built in.
