I would look into the CPU temperature causing the computer to shut down. I'm guessing this is a notebook computer. Does the fan run at all during the installation?

I never get too committed to any given distribution. When I want to put Linux on a machine I just try different distributions until I find one that works.

I would suggest that you do a md5sum check on the dvd. Anytime you download the iso image you should check the md5sum after the download and after the burn of the image.

I would check the md5sum. If you downloaded the cd/dvd iso then be sure to check the md5sum for the original iso with the md5 from the original download site. From the cli;

Code:
~#cd /downloadisolocation      #cdromiso.iso cdromiso.md5

~#md5sum -c cdromiso.md5       #substitute the correct name to check
If the iso md5 is ok then you should try 'CdromMd5sumsAfterBurning''.

This way you will know if the burn was OK!

This will check the download iso with the known md5sum that you also get with the iso.

I don't like to use the cd/dvd RW for a Distribution image. The price of a cd/dvd +/- R is cheap today compared with the time generally wasted in using a RW.

These links and others can be found at 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!

Hi,

I had the same problem with my acer (aspire 5315). The laptop is getting to hot! Just copy the packages folder (all CD's) to the hd and install from that after booting from CD. Not accessing the CD did the trick for my.
