Acer Aspire 1692 ati slackware

Hello,

I am trying to get my ati x700 to work in slackware. I downloaded the driver installed it run the config tool and replaced that with my xorg.conf.

I i do a glxinfo hardware rendering is on.
glxgears gives me about 4000 fps so this is all good.

But my opengl is not working as it should. A simple opengl screensaver or a game like quake3 is not playable it's just to slow...

Does anybody has a Idea?
