Hello,

I used Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF with Slackware and LMDE and it works great. You can also have a look at the HCL here at LQ. Under the Logitech link there are several webcam reviews (including one of me for the above mentioned type).

Kind regards,

Eric

I've got a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, and it works exceedingly well. No problems under Slackware at all.

Similar observation. I had e cheaper camera model (don't remember what exactly) and it didn't work at all on my Slack. On Win was Ok.
I bought Logitech Quickcam and everything suddenly worked :-)

I have a first gen of the Quickcam Pro 9000 and wasn't impressed with it at all. Poor low light compensation which uses long exposure times and results in poor frame rate and ghosting, over sensitive microphone, resulting in clipping and distortion. On the plus side, it uses the uvcvideo driver which is now in the mainstream kernel so no need to mess about finding drivers.

I wish I'd stuck with the Quickcam Communicate Deluxe and saved a few quid, but as others appear happy with theirs perhaps Logitech have addressed some of these issues in later revisions.
