Or once new Plasma appears Slackware will be released without testing.
I covered this already, which you seem to have missed or ignored. If we released when you first pushed for it, we would've had a mound of fixes that get pushed right after release. Compare that with the 5 bug fixes that were pushed out after 14.2 was released over the course of six months.

(I'm referring to bug fixes due to Slackware specific issues, not security fixes due to upstream issues.)

Also, in regards to waiting for the next Plasma, if you're referring to this comment, then we've already got Plasma 5.23 in Slackware (he just released the 5.23.4 packages today). I haven't found any references that Pat is waiting for a future Plasma release.

RC2 was released only 2 weeks ago. There's been 30 bug fixes since you created this thread. 30! Compare that to the 5 we had in the first six months of 14.2 being released.

Just let Pat do his job. You obviously are blinded by the desire for a release now and are willing to jeopardize the stability of 15.0 so you can get it now.

So, it's a quite safe bet that our (former) friend @igadoter is a blonde guy with blue eyes.

Now, imagine a blonde guy with blue eyes from Europe, yelling: RACISM! You can't? Neither me!

As we have no clear idea of the circumstances around his ban and/or what led up to the creation of that thread in "LQ Suggestions & Feedback", I don't think it's fair to comment on it, especially as the former member is now banned and can't answer.

Perhaps this thread has now had its time?

Fair? Like the way he attacked h2-1 in this thread a few days ago? Then he attacks Jeremy, accusing him of "racism?"

If you want to give this joker the benefit of the doubt, go ahead. I for one am pleased that someone finally brought the hammer down on this troll.

There's racism, or better word is xenophobia based not on the colour of the skin, but country of origin. But I'd rather not go into a further discussion and I suggest neither do you.

For someone who has been registered at this site for a relatively short time you seem to exhibit a strong negative and emotionally charged opinion of a former member who you have had little interaction with.

The details of any ban are between the banned member and the forum administration. That was my point - and the only point I was making. Anything else is just chat and conjecture.

There's certainly been a subtle hostility to eastern Europeans at this forum over the years.

Wow, I missed that. While we didn't always get along, I'm always sad to see someone banned.

(My only exception to being sad when someone is banned is when it's to reban someone who went around the ban by creating a new account.)

If igadoter desires to come back, I hope they reach back out to the admin team to find what stipulations are required for them to come back and they agree to abide by them.

Yeah, I mean aside from outbursts in a couple recent threads, he was a decent contributor to technical discussions. Surely being registered for 15 years must be worth something. I'd think a permanent ban is a little harsh, but I guess there is no way of knowing exactly what happened behind the scenes.

Regarding the comments above about attitudes toward people from Eastern Europe, I think it's a natural outcome for people with different communication styles to misread or misinterpret meanings. If not for forums like this one, people would not often randomly communicate with others from distant parts of the world... limited exposure to different styles can easily lead to offence being taken where none is intended.

I hope igadoter can come back. Sure, this poster stirred the pot a bit with some unpopular/unconventional views, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It'd be a pretty boring place if everyone was chirping the same song.

I agree.

I think he was just having a bad week or two maybe. I've been reading his posts for years and the last few seemed out of character, at least to me since I've never seen him attack someone like that. I enjoyed reading about his progress with running Slackware live from usb.

He was not a troll.
