Any way to get my startup sound to play sooner?
Hi guys,
My problem (and it's really just an annoyance, not a problem) is how late my startup sound plays.
The splash screen will do it's thing, then the desktop appears, then all the panels, icons and applets, then the system tray populates all it's icons and then there is about 10 seconds that pass after all that and then finally my startup sound plays.
Maybe my desktop is too busy? (7 applets, 7 special buttons and 12 icons).
I doubt it though because in previous versions of Linux (Currently I use Mepis RC6.1 with KDE 3.5.3) I used pretty much the same stuff with an exception here or there and the previous versions played the startup sound much earlier.
Maybe some background processes? But I am a novice and would not know where to look.
Also would not know what files or settings you might want to know about but would be happy to provide them if told where they are.
Would ideally like to get the startup sound to play within 3 seconds after the desktop appears.
Is this possible?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
