I have to agree with the first reply, exactly which devices don't work? You did the right thing by doing a "lspci -v", bug now
we need to know which ones work and which don't so we can point you in the right direction.
I will say this right off the bat, though: it looks to me like you're running a stock kernel and most of the drivers are
already in there and recognized. I say that because I see the 4-letter standard codes showing up everywhere (AHCI, which is
your SATA interface, and OHCI, which is your USB 1.x interface). Since AMD bought them, ATI is also getting serious about Linux
support. It looks like what you have is some sort of IGP (aka integrated graphics) since half the list says "ATI", so you'll
likely need a mix of open and closed source drivers for it (the closed source, if you need it, will most likely be the video
driver since that's the part they're most scared of opening up).
The most difficult thing is the Atheros Wi-Fi. A new HAL (proprietary Hardware Abstraction Layer) was just released a couple
of weeks ago and solves the problem I had with my chipset, but you obviously have something different than mine. In any case,
download the latest MadWiFi drivers at http://madwifi.org and blacklist or remove the "ath5k" driver if your wireless isn't
working. If THAT doesn't work, you may be stuck with using "ndiswrapper" plus a winblows driver.
One final thing: bear in mind that Slackware has never been laptop-friendly. I'm a long-time Slackware user who has just
put SlamD64 (a 64 bit Slackware clone) on my new laptop but I'm still having to download a lot of stuff to get all the
laptop-thingies working (and not all of them will work, period). Be prepared for a bumpy road ahead. On the plus side,
like anyone using Slackware knows, you'll know your machine and software better than anyone other than maybe an LFS user.
See here for information on installing the madwifi drivers in Slackware for your Atheros WiFi card. If you can't get that working, you can always try ndiswrapper, which uses the Windows WiFi driver for you card. Instructions for doing so are here.

I know that this is probably true, but I have the same laptop as the OP and I had very little trouble getting EVERYTHING working with 12.1 (with a considerable amount of help from this forum and T3Slider.) It is worth noting that there were many distros I tried before Slack and Slackware and Ubuntu were the only ones that would produce sound on the first reboot after the install. I have a different wireless chip (Realtek 8187B) and as yet there is no linux module for it, so I am stuck with ndiswrapper. And, like another poster recently, I have delays in the boot process because of udev device trigger events (or something like that), but it doesn't effect the performance of this laptop once it is booted. In general, I have found Slack to be VERY friendly for me and my laptop.
Some of the devices not working are my wireless card (i'm working on get it to work with ndiswrapper), my volume buttons (i can not control the volume), the two penguins (CPUs)at boot up, the image is completely disturbed, also if a open gxine it looks totally green, so i figure my video card is not working fine, when i run an screensaver is extremely slow.......and so on. Any ideas?
Since your wireless card is an Atheros card, you should probably try the madwifi drivers before trying ndiswrapper (see my first post). As for your volume buttons, I have written about keymapping in X a few times, so a search in the forums may turn up a few results. This thread is pretty good, especially towards the bottom (and in particular, this post). There are a few other threads on keymapping too, so if you don't like that thread you should be able to search for another one. Your video card issues may be solved by using the proprietary ATI drivers -- but I'm not sure. I posted information about the ATI drivers in your other thread, but there are countless posts that are far better than mine on the subject, so a search for ATI or fglrx will yield better information.

Thanks T3slider. I tried madwifi but i couldn't get it to work, then I tried ndiswarpper and in my dmesg i'm getting this output:
Code:
ndiswrapper version 1.52 loaded (smp=yes, preempt=no)
ndiswrapper (check_nt_hdr:156): kernel is 32-bit, but Windows driver is not 32-bit;bad magic: 020B
ndiswrapper (load_sys_files:210): couldn't prepare driver 'net5211'
ndiswrapper (load_wrap_driver:112): couldn't load driver net5211; check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver'
usbcore: registered new interface driver ndiswrapper
I followed everything, but i guess someting went wrong. What do you think it could be?
I must mention that I have never had to deal with wireless with a 2.6 kernel, and not for a long time either. I have never dealt with madwifi or ndiswrapper. Therefore, I don't know how much help I can be -- your best bet would be to see if anyone else has better advice. That being said, this line

doesn't look good. Are you sure you're using the correct Windows driver? Unless the error is misleading, it looks like you have a 64-bit driver when you should be using a 32-bit driver. I will say it again though -- I have never used ndiswrapper and the amount of help I can give is extremely limited.
