Question Logitech Bluetooth Mouse Not Available After Pairing as Input Device on Slackware-current

I'm new to Bluetooth mice and decided to give things a try this week and crashed and burned miserably. I've spent some time doing the usual (reading through wikis, forums, etc...) and haven't made a ton of progress, so I'm posting here if anyone has any ideas.

-The Scenario-
I have a Logitech Pebble mouse that I'm trying to get working and can't seem to get things going. I have also tried this with another Bluetooth mouse (Razer Atheris), but the same situation happens. I have verified that both mice work perfectly on other non-Linux devices and that my Bluetooth headphones work perfectly on this laptop. The issue seems consistent across mice where the common link is my laptop/OS bluetooth/input-device settings.

-What Have I tried-
(Kernel) I'm running the latest version of Slackware-current as of the day of this post. I double-checked my kernel config and can verify that each of the options called out at [https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Bluetooth_input_devices] is built.
(BT config) I've updated my bluetooth/input.conf to enable "UserspaceHID=true" as noted here [https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bluetooth_mouse]. Since this didn't seem to help i changed it back to the default settings.

-What I've noticed-
(dmesg) Though both mice seem to connect and pair fine, I get a "Bluetooth: hci0: security requested but not available" error in dmesg when either mouse connects via BT. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it comes up consistently every time I try to connect.
(xinput) I've also noticed that even though it claims to have connected fine, the mouse is never listed as an input device in xwin.

-Some logs to chew on-
I will continue to troubleshoot, but I'm running low on ideas, so throwing this out there if anyone wants to give me a hand or impart some knowledge. In the meantime, here are a few logs debugs to chew on.

Could it be that some module isn't loaded ?
Did you try to boot huge and see what could change ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I searched and couldn't find any unloaded BT, hid, input device, etc.. but no luck. I also loaded with huge and no progress, unfortunately. Open to any other ideas

update... a little strange and frustrating. I decided to run the following commands

Code:
bash-5.1$ sudo hciconfig hci0 down
bash-5.1$ sudo hciconfig hci0 up
and once the mouse came back up and reestablished a connection I finally got a dialogue box in XFCE that asked me to "accept connection." Once I clicked on "yes" the mouse started working. At this point, I can only assume that the "Bluetooth: hci0: security requested but not available" dmesg error was the culprit and was caused by xwindows not displaying the dialogue box to accept connection and timing out. Not sure why this is happening, but pretty frustrating even though it's working but not know what specifically was causing the issue.

If anyone has any thoughts on why this works, I'd love to know.

I believe it tried to connect before your DISPLAY was active/known and the result was unseen dialog box.
