login then a something flashes by

I've noticed something strange ever since I've installed my current version of slackware 8.1
Ever once in awhile when i login with my user name and password after I hit enter something
flashes on the screen very quickly. It doesn't seem to matter what user name it is either.
Its looks like text or code and it is always at the bottom of the screen. I've noticed
i'm also able to repeat this if I hold down the enter key if the login prompt is waiting
for a login name. I might half to hold the enter button for a few seconds but i'll see
what ever it is flash on the bottom of the screen again. There is no consistency to when
or what flashes up. Its very hard to read.

Tonight i thought i made out what looked like some 0000000000's in the left hand side

Only thing that I suspect is that I purchased this CD at a swap meet. Could
someone have done something to this?

Have you checked the output of dmesg and your syslogs?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. I suppose this should have been posted in the
security forum.

I've examined the output from dmesg and everything initialized and loaded looks legit.

The syslog looks OK, except these enterys. They are probably another issue
for me to repair though. They seem to appear quite often.

Maybe a md5sum check on the slack 8.1 CD would be in order?
I'm not sure if its possible though since the ISO image has burned
by someone else.

Everthing looks fine. I feel better now but i'm still confused...
