I am new to Linux.... I have installed Red Hat Linux 9.0 on my system.... I am having a problem with my sound driver... I am unable to hear sound when i play songs..... Anyone please help me in this regard.....
Hello jeevan
Do you hear any sounds at all? If not, I find fresh installs of KDE & Gnome have the volume to 0% by default, so you have to open the "mixer" program & turn it up!
If you do have sounds, what song-players have you tried?
i.e. I have intel AC'97 sound on my computer. Vanilla RH9 did not recongnize that. There is a problem with ALSA and this card (motherboard?) as well, so I got my sound to work first after compiling OSS into kernel (2.6.8.1).
