turn up the volume?
Hello jeevan
Do you hear any sounds at all? If not, I find fresh installs of KDE & Gnome have the volume to 0% by default, so you have to open the "mixer" program & turn it up! If you do have sounds, what song-players have you tried? |
Well,
let's start from the beginning. What type of computer and sound card do you have? Are you using ALSA or OSS? If you don't know what type of sound card do you have, try /sbin/lcpci It should say you (amont other things) somthing like: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801EB AC'97 Audio (rev 02) i.e. I have intel AC'97 sound on my computer. Vanilla RH9 did not recongnize that. There is a problem with ALSA and this card (motherboard?) as well, so I got my sound to work first after compiling OSS into kernel (2.6.8.1). |
