I am wondering if anyone can help me out with installing vmtools from vmware onto my gentoo system.
The host OS is WinXP Pro Sp2 with Gentoo as the guest... VMware Workstation 5.5. I can't get them to install, and the guide on gentoo-wiki is horrible and hard to follow.
well there's no nice way to do it, as Gentoo deviates massively from the SysVinit layout, i.e. it ahs no /etc/rc5.d, /etc/rc3.d etc... as such your best bet is to use an ebuild, which i don't believe is in the standard portage tree. The wiki docs are genuinely your best bet, and seem pretty straight forward to me.
