Unhappy strucking sound in xmms


hi
im using xmms-1.2.7. i hear some struck sound while playing some songs. is there any plugin to auto correct it?

Perhaps everyone else understands, but what do you mean by "struck" sound?
Do you mean a sudden or violent sound? An increase in volume?

no increase in volume but it sometime skips fraction of sec.. i couldn explain it further.
it occurs in only few songs ...

I've experienced that playing some .mpg video files with different players. Xine didn't skip at all, but noatun and kaboodle skipped.

Since your instance only occurs in a few songs, is it possible that those CDs are dirty or sratched?

im not very sure about that ... i just transferred them from other hard disk..
is there any way to prevent in case if its not cd problem..

This is happeng because u have a small buffer.Open xmms,go to preferinces(Cntrl+P),and iin the output module choose configure(there are aRts,ALSA,OSS...),and increase your buffer

This is just a stab in the dark. Did you copy from windows hdd. If you did, maybe try running defrag and copy again. I have my music on fat 32 partition and this seems to help.
