I've tried several different streams and several different players (xine, gmplayer, xmms, alsaplayer). All combinations stop playing after around 45 seconds. Usually clicking play again will resart the stream for another 45 seconds.
Sounds like your trying t listen to a stream too large for your bandwidth. What's your connection and what bandwidth stream are you trying to listen to? Also, what else are you doing in the mean time?
I am on a cable connection: 1meg down, 256k up. I can normally download files at speeds up to 120kB/s, so audio should be no problem. I rebooted last night after upgrading Gnome and I listened to some music for awhile, but now the problem is back.
Something else I noticed: gmplayer sometimes says it can't connect to aRs soundserver. Every time I've seen this when trying to play a local file, the file doesn't play. But sometimes when it says this while trying to play a stream, the stream still plays.
When you just surf the net in general or when you download something is the speed still where it was? Do you get any errors? Are you running anything else that consumes bandwidth in the meantime?
