PHP music streaming

hi all,

this is my first post to this forum and it is in desperate times that i seek entry here.

i am trying to create a PHP application which will stream music on intranet. now the real problem i m facing here is straming music. if i m directly clicking over the link of the song , it gets downloaded. again if i am creating a playlist on the server side and try to play on client side, it is again downloading. but i want it to stream.

can anyone help me with this problem. i need the reply fast.

also please tell me some other player than XMMS. i tried mpg123 but it is not working on my system.

Red face more details

I have been to icecast official website but it says that it supports ogg-vorbis format only. also i have tried apache::mp3 and many more but they donot work.

let me give some more details abt the filetypes and OS.

i am trying to stream mp3 files. for that i am creating m3u files and providing links to them on my website. Theoritically they must stream but practically , they first download to the temp folder and after that play. Well, this is not streaming!!
i have tried the same thing with real player as well but the same results.

i am using RedHat 9.0 as the OS and am programming the stuff in PHP. any further suggestions from anyone are most welcome.
