Stepmania not deetecting libmad

whenever i try to run stepmania it says that libmad cannot be found. But i have downloaded and installed the source of libmad. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Is it possible that stepmania is looking for libmad in a different place and if so where should i put libmad so it can find it?
