Question Squid 2.5 on linux 2.4

Hi,
We used to run squid 2.5 on linux 2.4,the problem is that whenever the memory (and swap) gets to be full, the system crashes.
In such a condition, this problem doesn't occure in Linux 2.2, and the squid's process is killed merely.
What's the solution to solve this problem on Linux 2.2.?
Please guide us.

This sounds like a kernel bug. Your best bet would be to upgrade to the latest 2.4 series kernel and see if the problem persists; if it does, submit a bug report.

You should also set the value of the maximum in-memory cache size to be smaller than the amount of physical RAM that you have (you don't gain anything by swapping the RAM cache to disk because squid uses its own disk cache).
