rsyslog

Getting this in /var/log/messages.

rsyslogd: -- MARK --

they repeat over and over.

I know it is because this is loading in /etc/rsyslog.conf

$ModLoad immark

But what is it for?
I looked through the rsyslog docs but it is not clear to me why it is reporting to the syslog over repeatedly and what it is for.

\Thanks for any help in advance.

It's just telling you that it's still working, even though there's nothing to log. It's how you tell the difference between a quiet log and a stopped or non-functioning syslog daemon.
