rsyslog

Hello everyone,

I need to know and I'm looking for some answers.

Which is the logwatch options used to transmit the report to the console, is it print?

The directive of logrotate which indicates the number of the versions kept into a log file, is it rotate?

Which logwatch option is used to specify the period of time which contains logs for generating the report, is it range or time, or which one?

The prioritys of the syslog protocol, are alert and debug, or which other ones?

If I want to transmit, sending all messages to a server which is running on 172.16.1.254, how do I do that? I'll write in syslog.conf the line: kern.* 172.16.1.254:/syslog is it right?

The line in syslog.conf "email.info /var/log/maillog" What is this? Is it a selector or an action or what?

I'd like some answers or some advice or maybe a documentation containing these questions/answers.

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Already consulted man rsyslog and didn't find all the answers. Not much for a good excuse, but... what so ever.

Try googling rsyslog.
Then you'll find
http://www.rsyslog.com/
http://www.rsyslog.com/doc/manual.html
http://www.rsyslog.com/faq/
http://www.rsyslog.com/config-snippets/

Also, your distribution would have documentation (rsyslog-doc or somthing) in its repository. Search your repository.
