I have also used the -vo xv and -vo x11 options... , I've just installed the codecs... still the same. I've tried fiddling with the miscellaneous options under preferences and selected Apple Quicktime Video (using gmplayer this time.... still nothing.
just saw your post, I have mplayer-0.90pre8-1... hmmmmm...
I read the codecs.conf file and saw nothing about quicktime video, or sorensen. no line with videocodec *** that has info:"apple quicktime or sorensen" under it... should I put something in?
If you have Realplayer 8 for linux installed, just click the "trailer" in the link below and choose the Real fomat. Doesn't solve your problem, but at least you can watch the trailer!
the new LotR trailer is in the new quicktime format. I searched the web around the time it was released, and it did not look likely we'll see Linux support for the new quicktime anytime soon.. You'll get audio but thats it.
there is a good deal of info out there on the web regarding this, some of it even neato to read...
For all my quick time movie needs I use codeweavers cross-over plugin http://www.codeweavers.com
I paid for it 25 bucks like 3 mounth ago and I am getting free updates as soon as the new version comes up, it is well invested $25. A free version garabages your screen with messages from codewevers about hungry developers, just give them 25 bucks and they are fed for the rest of their existence (I hope they are doing good).
