Viewing QuickTime with Mplayer

My problem is trying to view QuickTime video using Mplayer. How do you do it? When at a website (using Mozilla) and I click on a link, it displays that I must have QuickTime to view the video. So, how do I get Mplayer to execute when clicking a link? I tried setting up a "Helper Application" in the Mozilla settings:

Extension: mov
MIME type: video/quicktime
Handled by: mplayer

But, that didn't work.

You need the mplayer plugin:

Okay, that solved the video problem, but there is no sound. Am I screwed?

Yes. I mean no. Run your browser from a shell to see what the problem is with the mplayer plugin.

OK. It works now. I did start mplayer on the command line and found out that some of the codecs were in the wrong place. Thanks a bunch for the help. Sometimes I don't want to RTFM and just ask someone!
