problem in installing scisoft


hi
I try to install scisoft-7.0.0.tar.gz on ubuntu 11.4(64-bit) . it seems to be installed without any error but none of its softwares such as ¨ ds9 ¨ or ¨ sextractor ¨ work.

how can i solve this problem

scisoft-7.0.0
from some googling 7.5 looks to be current

why this very old version from 2006

http://www.eso.org/sci/software/scisoft/

and the current is from 2010 and might not run on Ubuntu 11.04

you might need 10.10 or 10.04
