Problem Installing Limewire - Received Errors While Installing
When trying to install Limewire, I get the following errors. It says that I need to install certain dependencies. How can I get all of these installed automatically without having to install them one by one?
x@xx:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i LimeWireLinux.deb
Selecting previously deselected package limewire-basic.
(Reading database ... 128920 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking limewire-basic (from LimeWireLinux.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of limewire-basic:
limewire-basic depends on sun-java6-jre | icedtea-java7-jre | sun-java6-jdk | icedtea-java7-jdk | sun-java5-jre | sun-java5-jdk; however:
Package sun-java6-jre is not installed.
Package icedtea-java7-jre is not installed.
Package sun-java6-jdk is not installed.
Package icedtea-java7-jdk is not installed.
Package sun-java5-jre is not installed.
Package sun-java5-jdk is not installed.
dpkg: error processing limewire-basic (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
limewire-basic
The above error should tell it all. You dont have dependencies installed in your box to have limewire up and running. You first need to install the following:
Package sun-java6-jre
Package icedtea-java7-jre
Package sun-java6-jdk
Package icedtea-java7-
Package sun-java5-jre
Package sun-java5-jdk
This is only a suggestion since it has been a long time that I really _used_ Debian or Ubuntu - and it starts with a question:
Why do you use dpkg -i to install?
I think the easier tool for this is apt-get or even the GUI (Synaptic) - both of these will take care of dependencies for you IIRC.
