how to install "file.rpm.run" in PCLOS?

I have downloaded an app I wish to use, but instead of file.rpm which I know how to install, it is called file.rpm.run. How can I install it, please? This is in PCLOS,
KDE5.

This does not seem to work in the PCLOS system.

The file is in the Downloads directory. I su'd to root. Checked the file--it is already rwx.
Here is the entire line in the directory:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 doug doug 134316031 Apr 14 17:37 BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run*

Here is first result:
[root@linux1 Downloads]# BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run
bash: BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run: command not found

Here is the second result: (What I expected, but I tried it anyway:
root@linux1 Downloads]# ./ BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run
bash: ./: Is a directory

Thank you for trying!

Running this as 'root' should do it:-

Code:
./ BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run
Bitdefender has reached end of life on this page--
https://www.bitdefender.com/business...or-unices.html

Maybe try ClamAV or something else.

If you have the time look in the PCLinuxOS Forum-
https://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=99783.0

If I'm not mistaken you shouldn't install outside of the sources; it could break your install. Have a look in Synaptic.

It appears that you have a space between ./ and BitDefender... which will never work. Typo?

Type o's have slowed me in the past as well.
Every character counts:-

Try this:

Code:
./BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.7-1-linux-amd64.rpm.run

Doug:
Upload that file to virustotal and have it examined/scanned (unless you have vetted this source).

Code:
sudo sh /home/doug/Downloads/file.rpm.run
is what I would use after virustotal has confirmed it nice and clean.

Nothing should be this difficult. And if you need antivirus for Linux, there's clamav in the repos.

Thanx to all. Since I realized that BitDefender is no longer supported, I have deleted the download. An anti-malware app that is not being updated is useless.

If any one has a suggestion for something other than ClamTK, I'd like to know. ClamTK works well in finding Windows bad stuff, but the files it finds can only by deleted
one-at-a-time, which is kinda dumb for a list of 30 or more files.

I am not afraid to download apps that PCLOS does not include that I want and need: LightScribe; National Weather Service; Google Maps; Google Earth; Zap-2-It, and a paid
office unit from Germany that can read and write all the MS office programs, even the latest. I also have MS Pinball, which works under Wine, but louses up the screen
when it closes. Also Langenscheidt's German-English and English-German dictionaries.

This line may be closed now, since BitDefender is no longer a useful topic.

If it's a prerequisite that the antivirus program has to delete infected files a certain way, then I have no recommendation. Sorry. I use clamav.

I install Comodo on a friends Linux Mint pc a few years ago. Worked great but it was not easy to configure.

IF my memory serves me correctly once Comodo is installed it doesn't work right until it's configured correctly.

Avast is also available for Linux. I tried it and it never found anything:-

Comodo

Avast
https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/131/

Sophos

-::-If your only using your distro for home use you don't really need antivirus software.-::-
However, if you are on a server that's a different story.
