A Start Job Is Running ERROR

If you get this error message upon booting up chances are it's a simple fix.

My Debian system would boot but would be delayed with a 1 min and 30s error message.

Code:

A start job is running for dev-disk uuid (exact #'s of the device/HDD) 1 min 30s

To correct the error run blkid and compare it's output to that which is in your /etc/fstab file.
If the 2 files do not match than change the UUID in fstab to that which is shown by blkid.

How To Install Xiphos on Debian

Hi:

First go to Xiphos.org and download the src pkg, tar.gz.
http://xiphos.org/download/

Now the install file says to go to Git Hub to download Xiphos but that link didn't work for me so I downloaded the tar.gz and had to compile from src.

cd to the directory where you have xiphos and run the first cmd in the install file.

How to get Amarok working in Slackware 14.2

Hi:

After a fresh installation of Slackware I wanted to hear my music and Amarok just didn't want to play nice.

After a few searches I found that you need some plugins in order for Amarok to play mp3 and mp4 files.

You will need to install gst-plugins bad, gst-plugins-ugly and gst-libav.
They are easily found in the SlackBuilds repo.

Removing a PPA From Ubuntu

I have consistently gotten this message with Ubuntu and other Ubuntu based distro's....

Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored or old ones used instead

Generally the way to remove that PPA is to go to Software Sources and rm the conflicting ppa's. However I wasn't able to do that with Voyager Linux (built on Ubuntu and Xubuntu)

Instead I had to use the command line to rm that annoying cairo-dock-team/ppa/ubuntu xenial main.

How To Make Elementary OS Loki and other Ubuntu Systems Boot Faster

If your Elementary OS Loki or other Ubuntu based system (16.04) is taking a long time to boot up all you need to do is change the seconds of the DefaultTimeoutStart.

BEFORE hand cp the sudo cp /etc/systemd/system.conf /etc/systemd/system.conf.bak to make a back up.

To do so edit the /etc/systemd/system.conf with your favorite text editor with elevated privileges.

Move to the two lines in the file that say:
