how to configure modem...


i am having a problem in configuring dax 56kbps internal modem
under red hat linux 8.0. i am already downloaded the driver for
rh linux 8.0. from ur website. but i failed to succeed. i tried
it under kde. i am completed all the steps u specified in the
help document. but at the time of connection through kppp, it
come up with "no modems found" or "modem not respond" message. could u kindly help me
to recover from this problem. i don`t know which is the device file for my modem.i am must be in a position to browse
the net under linux environment for security.

Try 'dmesg' (or dmesg | less).

Sort through that and see if you get any information on your modem. If not, then your driver was not properly installed and is not working.
