Hard Disk Problem

I am trying to install Mandrake 8.0 on a 433 Mghz Pentium III Dell Optiplex G1p with a Maxtor 10 Gig hard drive. My problem is that the Linux installation only sees 1.9 Gig of the hard drive. I have already updated the BIOS and installed Maxblast but neither worked. The hard drive had windows 98 installed before and could see the entire 10 gig. I have used this M8.0 install disk before with no problems so it has to be something with the HD or BIOS. Any suggestions?

Do you have any unpartitioned space on the drive??? Say 1.9GB...

I dont think so. I started with a full 10 gig windows partition but when I started the linux installation it only showed 1.9 windows partition which I deleted and loaded as a linux partition. Tuesday when I get back to work I will fdisk the entire thing and start over.
