Gimp Question

I want to use the GIMP to create a wallpaper for my computer. mainly just a bunch of pictures on one canvas. The sizes of the pictures are to big and I need to scale them down so everything fits nicely on the main image canvas. Can someone tell me how to resize the images so they can fit correctly?
