yet another Gimp question

im reading this tutorial online on Gimp. and its telling me this

and i dont know how to screen. i get the rest but i dont know how to screen! thx

Its a filter you apply to a layer. I use GIMP 1.3.18 and I do:

Go into the Layer Module
select the layer
change mode (in that layer module) from "normal" to "screen" (or whatever you want)
