Burned Audio CD Sound Quality

I convert from MP3 to Wave using lame and then burn using K3B on newest
nec dual layer dvd burner(also burns regular cds of coarse)

The problem is that the burned cd comes out sounding very tinny. Like perhaps there is a bit too much emphasis on the highs, im very sensitive to this and it almost hurts my ears at times. When the same is burned with Nero on a windows PC, albeit on a different burner and at a different burn speed, it comes out just fine. Unfortunatly i can not test this burner with nero, because this burner is in a PC and the other one is in a laptop.

Please help. Thanks!
