Unhappy audio quality

i am using Fedora Core 2....the audio quality is very poor on my system...i have tried changing over to sound drivers like alsa, arts, ess etc, but it doesnt seem to solve the problem.

what shud i do ?

From the command line, run alsaconf as root. May be that alsa isn't properly configured.

what kind of audio are you trying to play, mp3s? cds?

i am trying to play mp3 files basically, but the problem happens with avi dat mpeg files also
