Enable quota in a used partition


Hi all,


I have my server running up for more that 150 days and i want to enable quotas on main partition (/) without rebooting my machine. Can i do that ? How ?

what Filesystem is it ?

with XFS it ist not possible for the / partition
for XFS quota-support on / you need to boot with rootflags=usrquota,grpquota

for all other filesystems you need quota support in the kernel
and quotatools installed ...

maybe you could read the mini-quota-howto on tldp.org
