Thanks for the feedback. As mentioned, LQ will be moving to the platform that powers AQ and CQ. You can preview that platform at http://www.chromeosquestions.org/forum.php, but do keep the following in mind. The color scheme of LQ will not be changing as part of the move. Additionally there may be some functionality from LQ that you don't currently see on the new platform, but it will be ported before the move. There will be a testing phase where members will be able to help spot issues and give feedback before the actual switch occurs. The community will be involved through the process, to ensure the change is as smooth and possible and causes the lest amount of disruption.
When it comes to look and feel, my only complain is that LQ has too many borders and lines. For example, instead of having each section in the right side bar on grey background surrounded by black border, just display it directly on the white background without border. Or instead of having two lines separating each post (caused by each post having its own border), have just one line and skip the margin that results in white bar. Or instead of using <hr> to separate posts text from signature, use one-pixel wide line. Or border around quotes quotes are already indented and on a different background, a very distinct border is not necessary. Or the Quick Reply text area which has total of four borders. So I think there is a potential of simplifying the design and thus making the site look less busy for the eyes. I definitely not agree that the current look is restful.
When is the forum migrating to the base behind AndroidQuestions.org? That's been in the pipe for three years now. I'm just curious as I'm fine with the way LQ is now.
Only suggestion I have is to make SSL connections default. I have to use https at work, because they block a lot of the requests of the forum. Since it is already there, having this extra layer of security automatically enabled would be beneficial for all users.

We've been putting it off to ensure the new platform was solid and the transition is smooth. I would anticipate it happening this year, but don't have a solid ETA yet.
