xwindow fatal server error


i recently installed oss sound driver gui to sonfigure my sound..big mistake. after install i logged out and back in and this is the error:


not loading .note.GNU-stack (this repeated many times)
(EE)Failed to load module "xie" (module does not exist, 0)
not loading .note.GNU-stack
not loading .note.GNU-stack
(EE) VESA(0): unknown reason for exception
(EE) VESA(0): cannot continue
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none that have usable configuration

Fatal server error:
no screens found

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log"
Please report problems to submit@bugs.debian.org.

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).



Please, does anyone have any idea how to fix this???? i promise i'll never do it again

really weird rebooted and it's fine.....

i'd start here

take a look at the log file and see what it says. also i'm assuming that x worked fine until this installation. you'll need to post more specs. i.e. sound card, video card, etc.

just guessing here, but, i had a similar problem w/sound and nic drivers. the suggestion made to me by a real guru here was that the improper sound driver may have goofed up the nic driver. if that guess was on the mark, i suspect you may have just encountered a similar problem. here is a link to my thread.
