which file to download for installing tomcat server

hi All,

I installed latest fedora core.
Now I would like to install tomcat server and deploy my applications

For that I am following the link http://linux-sxs.org/internet_servin...#PREREQUISITES

And I go to this page http://tomcat.apache.org/download-60.cgi#6.0.20

I found

Binary Distributions

* Core:
o zip (pgp, md5)
o tar.gz (pgp, md5)
o Windows Service Installer (pgp, md5)
* Deployer:
o zip (pgp, md5)
o tar.gz (pgp, md5)

Source Code Distributions

* tar.gz (pgp, md5)
* zip (pgp, md5)

which is the file I should download to install tomacat server on my machine..

I think I have to download the binary.. ok
And I want to know core or deployer .. which one I should download and install ?

please suggest !!
thanks in advance

If you have to deploy a complete Tomcat server and would like to dploy more then JAVA based sites later on then it is suggeted to download core distribution.
Installation is nothing you simply have to open the archive at the folder you wish to preferably in side /opt
#tar zxvf apache-tomcat-5.5.27.tar.gz -C /opt

First you are not running the latest Fedora Core(assuiming you do not mean FC6, the last of the Fedora Core line) you are running the latest Fedora (assuming F11).

You are probably better off using 6.0.18(what is currently in the F11 repo) by just 'yum install tomcat6'. If there is some must have feature between .18 and .20, you will want to pull the standard F11 src.rpm and look at the spec file. In most cases there will be a number of tricks and a couple of patches that will be needed to build the package on Fedora.
