multiple file download from the server in one button click

Hi

I've a web server(running on RHEL4.5) with website running(php) on it their I want to have a page with 4 links to (jpeg) files on that page with check boxes at the end of each link. And I want to download those (jpeg) files one-by-one ( not download all checked files simultaniously but compleate one download and start next) once the check boxes are selected and "Download" button is clicked !. So if first 3 check boxes are checked ( i.e. first 3 files are selected to download) and download button is clicked , then first file should be complete download first and then second file should start to download without users interaction and once second is completed third should start !.

Can somebody please tell me whether this is possible, and if possible how to do that !

Thanx in advance !

I don't think this is possible - not in the sense of having a download "save as" box and getting the user to specify a save location for each. If I were to do this - assuming the files are on the web server disk - I would use a zip program via PHP to zip them up and to offer the zip file to the user. A scheduled process could then be used to delete old zip files that are no longer in use. (If the images are per-user, you would have to look at security to ensure one user cannot download the zipfile of another.)
