How to download a file to my PC from a remote server?

I want to download a file from my remote server on my computer using an SSH client, say like PuTTY. How can I do that?

Thank you for any help provided.

RTFM only works if the FM has the answer

Assuming you are on windows (given the putty reference), get pscp from the putty site and use that. Otherwise, you can use psftp (a putty secure ftp client).

If you're trying to do this from linux, see post 2

If the one client is Windows and the other is linux.
Then you could use WinSCP a very nice program

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I tried pscp and it works like a charm. Woohooo.

WinSCP is blocked by my university's firewall! Don't know why. Idiots!
