Hi, I am new to linux. Just installed ubuntu 10.10 in an acer aspire revo r3700. I used a usb slot dvd rw, and it works but I can not eject the disc or when I try to burn a ISO image, it reads "please replace disc with a supported cd or dvd". Any suggestions? Many thanks

Perhaps your problem of not being able to eject the media is because it is waiting for all programs that use the media to finish. For instance, if you insert a DVD and then browse through its contents with a file-browser, you must first close the file-browser to be able to eject the media using its eject button.

(This is a glitch in most linuxes, but someday you too will go to the terminal and type something like "sudo eject /dev/cdrom" and get it to eject no matter what :)

About burning your iso, which program are you using?
