Suse 8.2 Font settings

I have installed Suse 8.2 on a HP server with ILO build in (ILO is for remote management). I haven't installed KDE, Gnome or Xserver. So it should be basic ASCII. But it isn't. It looks like there is some graphic engine running with some other font that is not the basic ASCII that you also see on startup.
This means I can't use ILO remote management system. That supports non graphic screens. It supports graphics if you buy a license for that.
How can I change Suse 8.2 so that it shows standard font?

Are you using a framebuffer console or something? Try booting with vga=normal.

Append it to the kernel line in your /boot/grub/grub.conf if you are using Grub to boot your system, else put it in /etc/lilo.conf if you're using Lilo (and if you do, don't forget to rerun /sbin/lilo as root!!).
