Gvim font and tabwidth settings

i was wondering if there are ways to save my selected font and tabspace / width settings so that my next restarted gvim sessions would automatically load those settings? i tried reading the vim scripting tutorials but it's confusing as hell...

sorry if this question had been asked already but I can't find it after a search with the topic...
thanks in advance

This ain't gonna be a whole lot of help but, as a pointer, there's a gvimrc_example.vim in /usr/share/vim/vim62/ (or similar, depending on distro and version) that you can copy as ~/.gvimrc and edit to set and preserve special settings. As far as how to specifically set the stuff, I'm not sure - there's a 'set guifont' option in there. I was just trying to force a colorscheme on it that wouldn't blind me.
